CLAREMONT, Calif. — Several University of La Verne women coaches and administrators joined other members of the SCIAC in a professional development session sponsored by the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference yesterday morning.

The SCIAC annually hosts a professional development opportunity for women coaches and administrators.

The year, the SCIAC worked with Crista Samara of Brave Enterprises. According to Brave Enterprises' website, the mission of the organization is "to craft practice-based programming that will inform brave-inspired behaviors for people who want to make a habit of taking action."

The interactive session, hosted at the Pomona-Pitzer athletic offices, aimed to develop people to use bravery in meaningful ways. The participants took part in introspective and active exercises to practice new thought patterns and behaviors.

"I enjoyed the session. It helped me identify my strengths and develop confidence in my self-worth," said La Verne Assistant Athletic Director Christie Joines. "It always a great opportunity to work with our peers and develop deeper relationships with other coaches and administrators from the SCIAC."
