The La Verne football team is ready to head back to their winning ways this season
Top Returners
All-SCIAC lineman Austin Brown and linebacker Conner Johnson will lead will lead La Verne's defensive front seven this season while senior defensive back Derrin Hooks will anchor the secondary. Quarterback Josh Evans returns under center for his senior season. Running back James Gonslaves, who emerged late last season, will to add a spark to the Leopards' offensive attack.
New Defensive Coordinator
James Stewart enters his first season at the Leopards' Defensive Coordinator. Coach Stewart most recently served as the Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator at Chaffey College.

Key Dates
The Leopards will play 10 games this season including an exhibition against Mexican university Centro de Enseñanza Técnica y Superior Universidad. The game against CETYS will be the La Verne's first game against a Mexican institution since 1953 with the Leopards faced Mexico City College. CETYS is a WASC accredited school that is on pace to be the first Mexican University to join the NCAA. The Zorros plan on becoming a member of the Division II California Collegiate Athletic Association.

Volleyball looks to build on last year's SCIAC Postseason Tournament appearence
Top Returners
First Team All-SCIAC libero Kristen Sanchez, who led the Leopards with 43 aces, and middle blockers Kelsie Sievers and Katelyn Winiecki, who combined for 178 blocks last season, will look to anchor the La Verne squad as the compete in one of the toughest conferences in DIII.

All-SCIAC selection Johnny DeRueda will look to improve upon his spectacular freshman campaign when he led the Leopards with eight goals. After scoring nine goals in his first two years at La Verne, junior Christopher Wong is primed for a breakout season.

Goalie Ian Hernandez and top returning goal scorers Rex Sample and Jason Russum will lead the Leopards' push for a spot in the SCIAC Postseason Tournament. Junior Joey Sabers will also be depended on to make a big impact.

New Head Coach Justin Woods leads La Verne Cross Country to a new era

New Face
Head Coach Justin Wood enters his first season as the Leopards' men's and women's cross country head coach. Coach Wood spent the last six years as the Cross Country and Track and Field Head Coach at Stevens Institute of Technology where he guided eight athletes to individual national championships, four top-10 team finishes at NCAA Championships, and saw 30 athletes earn All-American honors. Coach Wood will also serve as the distance specialist assistant coach for track and field.
Top Returners
On the women's side, the Leopards will be led by All-Region runner Melissa Cerrillos. Senior Rachel Dela Cruz who finished second for the Leopards at the SCIAC Championships will also look to make a big impact.
The La Verne men's team returns its top-two finishers from last season's SCIAC Championships in senior Samuel Johnny and sophomore Matthew Salas.
