Leopards Compete At The Redlands Final Qualifier

Redlands, California - The University of La Verne track and field team competed at the Redlands Final Qualifier at the University of Redlands. Head coach Kevin Reid has been priming his athletes for the upcoming NCAA Championships each day that he has been on the track with them. Sharpening the skills of each individual athelte, he and his staff have been able to put the athletes in positions to make more progress before the national championships start. Seven atheltes made major marks at the Redlands Final Qualifier. Check out the results from the final qualifier of the 2022 season below:

 

Vera Juncaj Heptathlon: six out of seven events were either lifetime bests or seasonal bests. Her final Heptathlon score of 3,741pts, puts here #6 on the ULV All Time list.

Dominic Flores Decathlon:  five out of ten events were either lifetime bests or personal bests.  

Olivia Magby High Jump:  the SCIAC Champion in the High Jump, finished with another great meet, jumping 1.55m to end her collegiate career

Mira Junica High Jump:  the talented freshman, continued to impress, matching her personal best of 1.60m

Zackery Deering-Haddix: fighting through injury, Deering-Haddix continued to jump well, and will have to wait on selection to the NCAA meet next week.

Zachary Reid 110m High Hurdles:  continued running well, and should go into the NCAA Championships ranked #2.  With his new lifetime best, ULV Record and SCIAC Record of 14.18.

Temesgen Kflom Berhe 10,000m:  Berhe was idle this week as he prepares for the NCAA Championships next week in his primary event, the 10,000m

As the NCAA Championships apprpoach, the stage will be set for the Leopards to make the mark on that national level.
