Joanna Engel-Finer enters her 14th season as the Director of Athletic Training Service at the University of La Verne. Engel is in charge of programs for prevention and treatment of athletic injuries, as well as conditioning and nutritional programs for La Verne's 20 intercollegiate sports.

Engel came to La Verne in 2004 as an assistant athletic trainer before being elevated to her current position in 2006.

Prior to La Verne, Engel served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Cal State Fullerton from 2002-04.

She started her career as athletic training intern for the Philadelphia Charge of the Women's United Soccer Association in 2001 and moved on to serve as the assistant athletic trainner at Salisbury (Conn.) High School from 2001-02.

She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, from which she received her ATC certification in 2001.

Engel received a bachelor's in education at the University of Vermont and earned her master's in Kinesiology at Cal Stae Fullerton.
