Josh Davis enters his 14th year as an athletic trainer for the University of La Verne.

At La Verne, Davis’ primary sport responsibilities include volleyball, men’s basketball, and softball. He teaches classes in the University’s Athletic Training Program, is the advisor of the Athletic Training Student Club, coordinates, conducts and manages the CPR/First-aid/AED certifications of athletic department staff, and assists the head athletic trainer in managing the sports medicine supply inventory.

Originally hailing from Minnesota, the land of 10,000 lakes, Josh Davis was hired in August of 2006 as an assistant athletic trainer. Davis graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training, and completed his master’s degree in sport science in 2000 at St. Cloud (Minn.) State University. During his graduate studies, he worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at St. John’s (Minn.) University. There Davis was the certified athletic trainer for men’s soccer, hockey and baseball. In the summers of 1999 and 2000, he worked as the head athletic trainer of the St. Cloud River Bats, now the St. Cloud Rox, a member of the Northwoods League, a summer baseball league of teams comprised of the top college players from the Midwest and across the nation.

When hired at La Verne, Davis was no stranger to the SCIAC conference. Upon completion of his master’s degree, he escaped the Midwest and landed the position of assistant athletic trainer at the University of Redlands in August of 2000 and spent five years there.  In 2001 Davis earned his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification and became an American Red Cross certified instructor in CPR/AED and First aid. Besides his athletic training duties at Redlands, Davis taught a spring semester First-aid/CPR course and held various administrative duties. Before joining the La Verne athletic training staff, he spent a year working as an athletic trainer/fitness program director at a physical therapy clinic.

Davis is a member of the Far West Athletic Trainers’ Association (FWATA) College and University Athletic Trainers’ Committee, theNational Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He lives in Rancho Cucamonga with his wife, Emily, and two daughters Hailey and Kaitlyn, and dog Oscar.
