
Juniors Kevin Knight and George Hanna represented the University of La Verne on the 2013 All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Baseball Team as announced by the league office on Friday.
Knight was a First Team selection as a pitcher while Hanna earned a spot on the Second Team at the shortstop position.
A product out of Villa Park High School, Knight finished with a 6-3 overall record while posting a 1.94 earned run average and three complete games en route to earning his first All-Conference selection. In SCIAC competition, Knight started nine games, posting a 5-3 record with a 2.18 ERA with two complete games.
Among Knight's season highlights included a complete-game, five-hit effort in a 2-1 win over nationally-ranked Kean University on March 8 to go along with another complete-game, five-hit performance in a 10-1 triumph over Whittier on April 6.
Hanna repeats as an All-Conference selection in 2013 after earning First Team All-SCIAC honors in 2012. He made 33 starts for the Leos at shortstop, batting .412 overall and .404 in conference games. He ranked No. 8 nationally in on-base percentage this season at .538. Also a product of Villa Park High, Hanna led the squad in hits (47), runs scored (21) and runs scored (9).
La Verne finished the 2013 campaign with a 22-16 overall record and a 16-12 mark in conference play.
