LA VERNE, Calif. — Jakob Thomas of the University of La Verne baseball team has been named to the 2016 D3baseball.com All-West Region Team. Thomas was voted as the Third Team catcher.
Thomas, who almost exclusively played corner infield last year, took over catching duties this season and did not miss a beat. He hit .347 while reaching base more than half the time (.507 OBP) and slugged five home runs. He was also solid behind the plate, committing just two errors on the season and posting a .989 fielding percentage.
The All-Region award is the first of Thomas' career. Earlier this month, he was also named to First Team All-SCIAC.
Thomas, a junior, will return next season to anchor the Leopards' lineup and guide the pitching staff.
