Baseball routs Greensboro

LA VERNE, CA — The University of La Verne baseball team combined for an incredible 26 hits on their way to a massive 27-4 blowout win over the visiting Greensboro College Pride Tuesday afternoon.

Season Impact

The Leopards improve to 9-5 overall and the Pride drop to 2-5. 

Jacob Benson led the Leopards with four hits, three RBI, and three runs. Junior Tanner Browning also added three RBI with three hits, two runs, and a walk.

Designated hitter Ryan Aguliar added three this, two RBI, and a walk. Tanner Siffert and Brandon Vogel each contributed three hits, three runs, and an RBI.

Adam Santa Cruz, John Bike, Christopher Peres, and Ryan Galan each hit in a pair of runs. Peres and Galan both recorded a pair of hits. La Verne combined for 24 RBI.

La Verne benefited from the Pride's pitching woes early on, getting the first two batters of the game on base off back-to-back walks.

The Leopards then teed off on Greensboro scoring seven runs in the inning off RBI by Cruz, Peres, Bike, Vogel, Galan, and Browning to take a 7-1 first inning lead. The Leopards finished with nine walks.

Sean Holt picked up his first win of the season, pitching four innings in the eight inning game. Brenden Bergen pitched two innings of relief, striking out two.

Ethan Fulsher struck out two in the final inning.

Next Game

The Leopards continue with nonconference action on Thursday when they host Drew at 2 p.m.
