Baseball routs Caltech at home

LA VERNE, CA — The University of La Verne baseball team rallied off 11 hits and took advantage of Caltech miscues on its way to a 16-0 win Friday afternoon at Ben Hines Field.

Season Impact

The Leopards improve to 13-6 overall and 3-4 in the SCIAC. La Verne has won six of its last seven. The Beavers drop to 3-10 overall and 1-3 in the conference.

By the Numbers

Cody Norman picked up the win, pitching six innings and striking seven while giving up just two hits. Norman leads the Leopards with four wins on the mound. 

Adam Santa Cruz led La Verne at the plate with three RBI, two runs, and a pair of hits. Tanner Browning had a similar stat line, finishing with two hits including a double, two runs, and two RBI.

Ryan Galan, Tanner Siffert, Christian Killian, Christopher Peres, Jacob Barriga, Ryan Aguliar, Brandon Vogel, and Jacob Benson each finished with one RBI.

How it Happened

The Leopards jumped out to 2-0 first inning leadoff off back-to-back triples by Siffert and Santa Cruz and added a third run off an RBI by Peres.

It was more of the same in the next two innings with the Leopards scoring three runs in the second and third innings. La Verne poured on five runs in the fourth.

Next Game

The Leopards continue their series against the Beavers in a doubleheader tomorrow beginning at 11 a.m. in Pasadena.
