Baseball splits at Caltech

PASADENA, CA — The University of La Verne baseball team routed Caltech 11-0 in the first game of the doubleheader and the Beavers edged out the Leopards in the final game on Saturday.

Game One: La Verne 11, Caltech 0

Adam Santa Cruz, Christopher Ligot, Lucas Granado, and Brandon Vogel each finished with two RBI. Jacob Freeman finished with one of his own.

Ligot led the Leopards with three hits.

The Leopards jumped on the Beavers in the seventh thinning, scoring seven runs in the inning highlighted by a double by Granado.

Devon Burhans picked up the win on the mound, going seven innings and striking out five.

Game Two: Caltech 4, La Verne 3

The Beavers took a 4-2 lead into the seventh, Ryan Galan brought in Vogel with a single up the middle but the Leopards couldn't pull even.

Brandon Shiota and Tanner Siffert both added an RBI in the effort.
