Baseball's rally falls short against MIT

LA VERNE, CA — The University of La Verne baseball team rallied for three runs in the eighth, but it wasn't enough as the Leopards fell to MIT 9-3.

The Leopards move to 14-8 overall and MIT improves to 4-3-1.

How it Happened

Aaron Fong got the Leopards on the board in the eighth when he tripled in Tanner Siffert and Brandon Shiota.

Christopher Ligot stepped up next and singled in Fong to cut the deficit to 6-3 but that was as close as the Leopards would get.

MIT was led by Matt Johnson's three hits and two RBI.

Tyler Agajanian pitched two and two-thirds innings of relief, striking out five. AJ Jimenez took the loss for La Verne.

Patrick Callahan picked up the win for MIT.

Next Game

La Verne continues nonconference action on Friday with an 11 a.m. game against New Rochelle and a 3 p.m. game against Lewis and Clark.
