Norman deals, baseball beats Redlands

LA VERNE, CA — Cody Norman went the distance, the Leopards exploded for five runs in the third, and the University of La Verne baseball team took down the visiting Redlands Bulldogs 8-0 Friday afternoon.

Season Impact

With the win, the Leopards move into a tie for second place in the SCIAC with Occidental. La Verne improves to 21-8 overall and 8-5 in conference play.

The Bulldogs drop to 14-17-1 overall and 8-8 in the SCIAC.

Leopard Ace

Norman dominated on the mound for the Leopards. The junior struck out four and walked just one on the way to picking up his second complete game win of his career and first of the season.

Norman leads the SCIAC with seven wins. The Vacaville native was recently named SCIAC Pitcher of the Week for his performance against then No. 13 Cal Lutheran.

The next three La Verne hitters, Christopher Peres, Christopher Ligot, and Brandon Vogel, each hit in a run to extend the Leopards lead.

Ryan Galan capped off the inning with a single through the left side to score Ligot.
