Holt, Siffert Named All-SCIAC

LA VERNE, CA — Sean Holt and Tanner Siffert have been named to the All-SCIAC team the Southern California Intercollegiate Atheltic Conference announced today. It is the first All-SCIAC award for both athletes.

Holt led the Leopards on the mound in the shortened season. The junior capped off the season with the best outing of his career. In the elimination game of the SCIAC Postseason Tournament, Holt pitched the first complete game of his career, while allowing just one earned run and one walk on the way to an 8-2 win. The Burbank native ranked second in the SCIAC with a 1.74 ERA. Holt started four games for Leopards earning a pair of wins in his outings while allowing just four earned runs and walking just four batters. Holt finished the year with nine strikeouts.

Siffert was outstanding offensively for the Leopards this season. The La Verne native led the Leopards and ranked third in the SCIAC with 17 RBIs despite playing five fewer games than everyone else ranked in the top four. Siffert ended the year with 14 hits including one home run and three doubles and added seven runs, five walks, and a stolen base with just five strikeouts. The sophomore finished with two four-RBI games including in his best performance of the year when he finished with three hits, two doubles, a home run, and a run to lead La Verne in a 14-8 win over Redlands.

The Leopards finished the regular season in third place with a 4-5 SCIAC record and ended the year 5-7 overall.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Cal Lutheran, Chapman, La Verne, and Redlands were the lone participants for the SCIAC during the Spring of 2021. Because only four teams participated, only one All-SCIAC team was awarded this season. All institutions were eligible for the Character Award.
