Demorest, GA – The University of La Verne Leopards surrendered a 10-2 loss to the #16 University of Lynchburg Hornets on Sunday, concluding their three-day weekend in Georgia.

First-year infielder Ryan Vosika had a three-hit day and drove in a run. The Leopards also had a few men come off the bench and pick up their first hits of the season. Greg Pavon and Matt Diaz both singled, and first-year infielder Jarin Ching singled in his first collegiate plate appearance. The Leopards deployed seven pitchers to get through Sunday's ballgame, with first-year southpaw Chase Pederson eating the majority of innings. Pederson nearly completed five total innings of relief, allowing a run on just two hits and a strikeout.

With Sunday's loss, La Verne holds a 3-4 record coming home to open up Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. The Leos will host the Occidental College Tigers on Friday, Feb. 24 at 2 p.m. to start the hunt for the 2023 SCIAC title.
