LA VERNE, Calif. — La Verne sophomore quarterback Josh Evans was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week after accounting for 385 yards of total offense and five touchdowns in a 48-42 loss against Whitworth on Sept. 17.

Evans ran for 229 yards and three touchdowns on just 16 carries, seven of which went for 10 or more yards. The Martinez, California, native had touchdown runs of 90-, 45- and 1 yards and averaged 14.6 yards per carry.
He was 14-of-26 passing and threw for 156 yards and two touchdowns that went to Alex Arellano and Brandon Long.
Evans is now averaging 192.5 passing yards and 152.5 rushing yards per game on the young season and has seven total touchdowns.
Evans and the Leopards are back in action on Oct. 1 at Cal Lutheran.
