Four Leopards to play in All-American Bowl

MONTERREY, Mexico — Alex Arellano, James Ferraro, Beau Kitson and Dallas Parent of the University of La Verne football team have been selected to play in the Aztec Bowl on Friday, Dec. 9 at Estadio Gaspar Mass in Monterrey, Mexico.

The quartet will be a part of the Team USA All-American Eagles comprised of top players from NCAA Divisions I, II and III. The All-American Eagles will play the Mexico All-Stars.

The Aztec Bowl is a part of the All-American Bowl series which includes several types of games for different levels of competition played all over North America. The participants in the All-American Bowls have been nominated for their outstanding performances throughout their season, their accomplished career and love for the game. The All-American Bowl also gives athletes the potential to be scouted by colleges and professional football teams.

Arellano hauled in a career-high 61 passes for 812 yards and five touchdowns and leaves La Verne as the program's all-time receptions leader with 139.

Ferraro made an immediate impact in his only season with the Leopards. He notched 25 tackles and was assigned to cover the opposing teams' best receivers.

Kitson moved to center from right tackle this season and anchored an offensive line that paved the way for an offense that averaged the second-most total yards in the SCIAC. The Leopards averaged 441.2 yards of offense per game.

Parent finished the season with 1,237 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. His total rushing yards ranks 19th in the nation with every player ahead of him having played at least one more game. On a per game basis, Parent is ranked 10th with 137.4 yards per game.

Arellano, Parent and Kitson were all named All-SCIAC and Parent earned D3football.com Second Team All-West Region honors.
