Carvonte Hill '16 signs pro deal in Europe

LA VERNE, Calif. — Following a standout career with the Leopards, the former University of La Verne football player Carvonte Hill '16 is headed overseas to play professional football. The Richmond, California, native and a starting safety on La Verne's 2015 SCIAC championship squad signed a contract with the Bron-Villeurbanne Falcons of Federation Francaise Football American (FFFA) Elite division in 2017.

Hill earned the opportunity to play overseas through associate head coach and offensive coordinator Rich Worsell, who has extensive connections in the European football community.

Hill, a hard-hitting safety who came to La Verne in 2013 as a transfer from junior college powerhouse Contra Costa College, compiled 121 tackles, one interception and 15 breakups in three seasons while striking fear into opposing receivers who ventured into the middle of the field.

Hill's best season was his last, in which he recorded 51 tackles including three for loss and five pass breakups as he helped lead the Leopards to their first conference championship in 20 years.

This will be the Bron-Villeurbanne Falcons' first season in France's top flight, the Casque de Diamant Championnat, after the club won the second division title in 2016.

Hill and the Falcons will begin their 2017 season in January.
