Chapman (3-2, 3-0 SCIAC); Complete ScheduleRoster

Coach's Corner:

Hal Hargrave and ULV football Head Coach Chris Krich discuss an unexpected bye week and preview tomorrow's home game vs Chapman. Also, players Conner Johnson and Jelahny Garnett join Hal on set.

The Match-Up:

La Verne comes into the game rested after last week's scheduled game against Occidental was canceled Friday morning. The Leopards dropped their last game on the field on the road at Redlands.

The Panthers enter Saturday's game undefeated in SCIAC play. Chapman defeated Redlands last week 45-26.

Look for the key match-up to be between La Verne's front seven and the Panthers' running attack. Chapman is averaging over 170 yards on the ground, but La Verne's defense has the potential to shut down the run game, having limited Cal Lutheran to just 27 rushing yards in the SCIAC opener.

Last Season:

The Leopards fell to Chapman last year on the road 30-7.

Recent Series:

The Panthers lead the recent series against the Leopards, winning four of the last five match-ups. La Verne last beat Chapman in 2015 at Ortmayer Stadium 49-42 on their way to a SCIAC Championship.

Who to Watch:

On the defensive side, the Leopards' Conner Johnson will look to disrupt Chapman's powerful rushing attack. The sophomore linebacker leads La Verne with 31 tackles this season with 3.5 tackles for losses.

Jelahny Garnett looks to pace La Verne's offense. The senior has racked up 136 receiving yards this season and will look to stretch the Panthers' defense.

Chapman is lead by quarterback Ricky Bautista who is coming off a four touchdown performance against Redlands.

What's at Stake:

The Leopards need a win to stay in the race for a SCIAC title. Handing the Panthers their first SCIAC loss will go a long way to keeping the conference race interesting. The Panthers will look to keep their perfect SCIAC record intact.
