Football falls on homecoming

LA VERNE, CA — Josh Evans connected with Nathaniel Sagastume to even the game 7-7 in the first quarter. But the Sagehens returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown and it was all Pomona-Pitzer from there, beating the University of La Verne football team 34-7 on homecoming Saturday night.

Season Impact

La Verne falls to 2-2 overall and 0-2 in SCIAC play. Pomona-Pitzer improves to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the conference.

Stat Leaders

Martaveous Holliday led the Leopards on the ground with 69 yards rushing. James Gonsalves added 63 yards rushing.

Evans passed for 65 yards. Grayson Kline led the Leopards with 52 receiving yards on four catches. Diego Garcia made good on his only kick of the game.

Defensively, the Leopards finished with five tackles for losses. Dimone Backus had 1.5 tackles for losses with Cameron Mooneyhan and Austin Brown each adding one.

The Sagehens were led by Edward Sias' 308 passing yards and Karter Odemann's two rushing touchdowns.

Next Game

The Leopards travel to Whittier College next Saturday to play the Poets in a 5 p.m. match-up.
