Rich Worsell enters his eighth season at the University of La Verne, serving as Offensive Coordinator and assistant head coach for the Leopards.
During his time at La Verne, Worsell has turned the Leopards into a national offensive juggernaut and has been instrumental in a turnaround that culminated in a 2015 SCIAC Football Championship and the Leopards' first appearance in the NCAA Football Championship since 1994.
The 2015 Leopards went 7-0 in SCIAC play while boasting one of the best offenses in the nation. The Leopards were 45th in the nation in total offense (444.1), 41st in scoring offense (37.0) and 18th in rushing offense (256.4). La Verne also committed the 17th fewest turnovers in the country.
La Verne also led the SCIAC in 11 offensive statistical categories in 2015.
Worsell mentored arguably the best running back and the best wide receiver in La Verne history. In 2015, running back Travis Sparks-Jackson was tabbed D3football.com Second Team All-American after running for 1,591 yards and 19 touchdowns. Sparks-Jackson also became La Verne's all-time leading rusher (3,046 yards). In 2014, wide receiver Jon Lilly posted one of the best single-season by a receiver in La Verne history. Lilly finished the season with 1,050 yards and 13 touchdowns on 50 receptions in just eight games and moved up to No. 2 all-time in career reception yards (1,855).
Prior to his arrival, Worsell spent two seasons as Offensive Coordinator at Illinois College. During his first season at Illinois College, the Blueboy squad set 14 school records and five Midwest Conference Records.
He previously spent three seasons as the pass game coordinator at Millikin University. During the three years, he produced three different All-Conference receivers. Prior to coaching at Millikin, Worsell spent two years at Lakeland College in Wisconsin. During this time Lakeland won a share of the IBFC Championship and was ranked #8 nationally in Scoring Offense (2003) scoring 40.1 points per game.
Born and raised in England, Worsell is a 2003 graduate of Aberystwyth University during which time he served as the Head Coach for three years, in addition to serving as the Great Britain Bulldogs Offensive Line coach. In 2003 he was the Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator for the Sussex Thunder.
Worsell holds a Master of Business Administration from Lakeland College.
