Leopard men's basketball squad defeats Cal Lutheran

THOUSAND OAKS- The University of La Verne men's basketball squad scored a 64-57 league victory over Cal Lutheran University Thursday evening.

The Leopards (4-6) jumped out to 33-20 lead at the midway point, including an 11-4 run to close out the half. However, the Knights (10-2) staged a late comeback attempt, coming within six points multiple times, but eight points from senior guard Ronn See in the final four minutes kept the Leos in front. 

See led the offense with 18 points and also put up five rebounds and three assists. Junior center Niall Harrison scored 10 points and grabbed five boards, while sophomore guard Weston Newell came off the bench to contribute 15 points. The Leos shot a sizzling 52.4 percent (22-42) from the field, and half of their offense (32 points) came from in the paint. Cal Lutheran held advantages in rebounding margin (33-28) and turnover margin (12-14).

The Leos are slated to take on Caltech in a SCIAC matchup Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m at Franz Athletic Court.
