Gustafson, McHenry finish in double figures at CMS

CLAREMONT, Calif. — Evan Gustafson led La Verne with 12 points, Ryan McHenry added a double-double, and the Leopards got 31 points from the bench. But the University of La Verne men's basketball team couldn't stop Claremont-Mudd-Scripps' hot shooting, falling to the Stags 90-63 at Roberts Pavilion.

Gustafson finished in double figures for the fifth time this season, shooting 5-7 from the field. The junior added two rebounds and two assists. 

McHenry scored 10 points off 4-6 shooting with a three-pointer. He also finished with a game-high 11 rebounds and two assists for his first double-double of the season.

The Stags took the early lead and didn't look back while shooting 59.1 percent as a team.

The Leopards shot well from the line, making 15 of 19 free throw attempts.

La Verne falls to 0-10 overall and 0-2 in the SCIAC. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 4-7 overall and 2-1 in conference play.

Next Game: The Leopards return to home this Saturday when they host Chapman University at 2 p.m.
