Men's Basketball falls to Whittier at home

LA VERNE, CA — Four Leopards finished in double figures but the University of La Verne men's basketball team fell to the visiting Whittier College Poets 88-76.

Evan Gustafson scored a career-high 17 points in the effort shooting an outstanding 72.7 percent from the field. The Rocklin, CA native also grabbed five rebounds and added one steal, one block, and one assist. Gustafson has finished in double figures in all but three games he's played in this season. The senior leads La Verne with 12.5 points per game.

Freshman Sinai Enoch also had a solid game for the Leopards scoring 14 points with two-three pointers and four assists. Enoch ranks second on the La Verne squad with 12.2 points per game.

Max Karim had a great game for the Leopards. The senior followed up his career-high 14 points last weekend against Pomona-Pitzer with another double-figure performance. Karim showed off his range, draining four three-pointers on just five attempts to finish with 12 points. Karim also added four rebounds and a steal.

Senior Luke Edwards also did well from beyond the arc, making a pair of three-pointers and totaling 10 points. Jordan Allen added eight points of his own.

Conner Longmire led the Poets with 20 points.

Season Impact

La Verne falls to 1-18 overall and 0-11 in conference play. The Poets improve to 8-12 overall and 5-6 in the SCIAC.

Next Game

The Leopards travel to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps this Saturday for a 7 p.m. tip-off against the Stags.
