La Verne and Crown Battle 'Til The Final Buzzer

La Verne and Crown Battle 'Til The Final Buzzer

La Verne, CA - The University of LA Verne men's basketball team welcome Crown College to The Tents for a pre-Christmas Eve match-up, as the Leopards played their last game before a week break.

The Leopards had entered the game after a victory over the weekend and looked to extend their home winning streak.

The game started off closely contested as both teams played tight defense and ran their offense precisely looking to execute each trip down the court. The Leopards backcourt controlled the ball and penetrated the gaps to get high-percentage shots for La Verne during the first half of play. The glass would be controlled by the Leopards post players and wings players collectively as the teams reached halftime.

Second-half action would be fierce, as both teams sought to take control of the game. Kyler Harvey and Jonas Holt would score key baskets late in the half as La Verne sought to create space with the lead over Crown. With five seconds left in the game, La Verne would give up a layup that gave Crown a 71-70 lead. The Leopards would have one final attempt as the horn sounded but would fall to Crown 71-70.

Kyler Harvey and Brian Adams would lead the Leopards with 18 and 13 points respectively.

La Verne returns to action New Year's Eve at home against Redlands. The game starts at 4:00 PM.
