Lorenzo Griffin also known as “Coach Zo” joined the University of La Verne Men’s Basketball staff during the 2021-2022 Season. Prior to joining the Leopards staff, Lorenzo completed a nine-year professional basketball career (2012-2021) in Germany; where he played for TSV Wasserburg and TV Traunstein Chiemgau Baskets.

Lorenzo was born and raised in Riverside, California where he graduated from Riverside Poly High School in 2005. After completing high school he graduated from Waldorf University with a BA in Business Marketing in 2010. Lorenzo is currently pursuing his master's degree at the University of La Verne in the MLSM Program, Management, and Leadership. His Master’s concentration is in Organizational Development.

Throughout Lorenzo’s professional career in Germany, he averaged 23.4 points per game, 6.4 assists, and 4.6 rebounds. His 3,851 points were the most points scored by a TSV Wasserburg men’s basketball team member in the Bayernliga. He was named a Bayernliga/Oberliga All-Star on two occasions in 2018 and 2019. In addition, Lorenzo won 5 scoring titles (2014-2018 & 2019) while playing in the Bayernliga South Division.

In 2011 Lorenzo played in a series of exhibition games in Romania and Moldova. Lorenzo participated in the Elite European Basketball Showcase in Pula, Croatia where he won back-to-back championships in 2012 and 2013. It was this camp that helped propel Lorenzo to a Professional Basketball career in Europe.

In 2015 Lorenzo with the help of Kenan Biberovic and Chris Sardgon Co-Founded PLSA (ProLife Sports Academy). PLSA is a basketball skills development organization that has hosted camps and clinics along with individual and group skill session workouts in Germany and Poland. Lorenzo has continued the vision of PLSA in Southern California.

While in Germany Lorenzo also coached youth boys and girls basketball teams, ranging between the ages of 8 to 20 years old. Lorenzo won multiple league Championships with the u14,u16,u18 boys, and the u18 and u20 girls teams, in the following seasons: 2013-2015, 2018, and 2019.

During Lorenzo’s senior year at Waldorf University, he averaged 8.7 points per game, 3.5 assists, and 3.8 rebounds. Lorenzo was ranked 2nd in the nation with a 90% Free throw percentage (NAIA Division 2) during the 2009-2010 season.

During the summer of 2021, Lorenzo began playing in 3x3 basketball competitions in the Czech Republic and Germany.

Lorenzo enjoys spending time with family and traveling.
