La Verne heads into the championship with a one-shot lead over No. 9 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. Through SCIAC Nos. 1 and 2, the Leopards shot a four-round total of 1,159. No. 3 Redlands lurks three strokes behind at 1,162.

The Leopards were in third-place, 31 shots behind Redlands, after an uncharacteristically slow start at SCIAC No. 1, but roared back with a first-place finish at SCIAC No. 2 to claim the top spot on the conference leaderboard. Kelby Scharmann took the individual win at the second tournament with a two-day score of six-under 138.

On April 12, the Leopards won the one-round Baldy View Shootout to build more momentum.

"We are very excited to be in a position to go into the championships with the opportunity to bring the title home," La Verne head coach Chris Davis said. "It took a great SCIAC No. 2 to get in this spot and we're looking to capitalize. Everyone's playing well and we hope to rise to the occasion when it matters the most."

Davis will roll out a top six of Andre Bedard, Paul Gomez, Keven Holliday, Kelby Scharmann, Alec Spencer and Trent Twamley.
