Scharmann Lands on Academic All-SCIAC  Team

PASADENA — Kelby Scharmann of the University of La Verne golf team was named to the 2014 Academic All-SCIAC Men's Golf team, the conference office announced on Tuesday.

The junior history major keeps adding to his string of postseason honors. In June, Scharmann was named to the Division III PING Second Team All-America Team and earned First Team All-SCIAC and PING All-West Region honors in May.

Scharmann registered a scoring average of 74.47 on the season and led the Leopards to a sixth-place finish at the 2014 NCAA Men's Golf Championships, where he shot a four round total of five-over 293 (76-74-70-73) to come in seventh individually.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.40 cumulative grade point average at his current institution, must have completed one full calendar year at his current institution, must have reached sophomore athletic eligibility and must have participated in a minimum of five (5) SCIAC rounds during the current golf season. In the case of transfers, graduate students, and two-year college graduates, the student-athlete must have completed one full calendar year at the nominating institution.
