GREENSBORO, N.C. — Alec Spencer of the University of La Verne men's golf team was named to the 2016 NCAA Division III All-West Region Team, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced on Tuesday. This is Spencer's first All-Region honor.
Spencer, a junior from San Diego, won two individual medals this season and averaged 75.16 strokes per round. He won the prestigious West Cup for the second year in a row and won SCIAC No.2, both of which featured multiple top-25 teams and top-ranked individual players.
In April, he was named a semifinalist for the 2016 Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award presented by Barbasol and was tabbed All-SCIAC for the third year in a row.
