Leopards open NCAA Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Pitiluk Phanomchai led the Leopards on day one of the NCAA Championships at Grandover Resort and Conference Center. Round one concluded Wednesday morning after lightning halted action on Tuesday.

Phanomchai shot a par-72 to open the tournament. The freshman birdied the second, sixth, 12th, 14th, and 18th holes to end the day in a tie for 17th.

Conner Davis sits two strokes behind Phanomchai. The junior started off the day hot, birdieing the four of the first six holes.

Hisham Hussein opened the tournament carding an 80. Aaron DiGiamarino shot an 82 and Henrik Skogseth shot an 85.

The Leopards currently sit in a tie for 24th place with Franklin & Marshall and Webster with a team score of 308. La Verne is four strokes back of the top-18 teams.

The first round is slated to resume Tuesday morning at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday's regularly scheduled second round begins at approximately 11:00 a.m. with a shotgun start on Grandover's East and West Courses.

At the conclusion of 36 holes, the 42-team field will be trimmed to 18, plus the top-five individuals not on one of the top-18 squads. The final 36 holes take place on the East Course and are slated for rounds on Thursday and Friday.
