GREENSBORO, N.C. — Conner Davis had an outstanding round, moving 25 spots up the leaderboard to end day two of the 2018 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships in a tie for 12th place. The University of La Verne men's golf team as a whole missed the cut and failed to advance to the final 36 holes of the tournament. Davis will compete as an individual the rest of the tournament.

Eighteen of the 42 teams advanced to the final two rounds. The Leopards finished the first two rounds in 22nd place with a total score of 614, seven strokes away from the 18th place team.

Davis had one of his best rounds of the season. After closing out day two yesterday in 37th place with a two-over 74, the junior carded a two-under 70 to earn a spot in the final two rounds.

With a shotgun start in effect due to day one's lightning postponement, Davis opened the day on the eighth hole and started off strong, birdieing the par-four hole. Things got a little shaky after that with Davis bogeying the next three holes. But the Upland native responded in impressive fashion the rest of the way. He added four more birdies, including back-to-back holes on the second and third.

Davis sits at an even 144 after two days of play, five strokes behind tournament leader Austin Wells of Otterbein University. Davis will tee off tomorrow at 9:15 a.m. eastern time.

Hisham Hussein and Aaron DiGiamarino both improved their second time out on the course. Hussein improved from two strokes from his day one performance carding a 78. DiGiamarino also shot a 78, improving four strokes from yesterday's outing.

Henrik Skogseth had the biggest improvement from round one to round two, bettering his day one performance by five strokes, finishing with a score of 80.

Pitiluk Phanomchai shot an 82 during Wednesday's round.
