GREENSBORO, N.C. — Conner Davis finished the fourth and final round under par to tie for seventh place at the 2018 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships.

"It was great to have a good finish at the end of the year and continue on even though the team could not," said Davis. "I was happy La Verne still had a representative, and I look forward to the possibilities next season holds."

After starting the day in 15h place after shooting 74 on day three, Davis jumped up eight spots on day four of the competition, finishing the round with four birdies. The junior started the day on the back nine with a birdie on the tenth and followed it up with birdies on the 14th and 16th holes. Davis added another birdie on the second hole and finished the round with a card of minus-one, 71.

The Upland native finished the tournament with a total score of plus-one, 289 (74, 70, 74, 71) to finish in a three-way tie for seventh place with Emory's Connor Yakubov and Wittenberg University's Ryan Mallette.

"Process, management of attitude, and a good mental game are key components to successful golf at elevated levels of competition and no individual on our team embodied these qualities better than Conner this season," said head coach Eric Riehle. "I'm extremely optimistic about the future of our program next year and down the road."

2018 marked the first year that the Leopards qualified as a team for the NCAA Championships since 2015.

Brian Peccie of Washington & Lee took the individual title and Methodist University won the team competition.
