No. 6 Men's Golf wraps up fall season with 5th place finish

CHANDLER, AZ — The University of La Verne men's golf team wrapped up a busy fall with a fifth-place finish at the Firestorm Invitational, hosted by Arizona Christian. The Leopards end the fall season ranked No.6 in NCAA Division III by Golfstat.

Leading the Leopards in the field of NCAA DII, DIII, NAIA, and junior college squads was freshman Nathan Stepanski. The San Diego native tied four fourth shooting a two-under 70 on day one before closing the invitational with a solid one-over 73 on day two.

Reigning Lee Fulmer SCIAC Athlete of the year Hisham Hussein tied for 11th place. The junior ended day one in a tie for 44th after shooting a 78, but on day two the Upland native bolted up the leaderboard with a three-under 69.

Freshman Connor Dunlop had a solid showing, shooting an even 72 in round two to end in a tie for 26th. Jason Brown carded 153 and Conner Davis followed one stroke behind with a 154.

The Leopards competed at three different events during the fall. At the end of October, La Verne took third at the Marymount Fall Invitational in Palm Desert. Hussein led the Leopards in that competition, finishing the invite in a tie for second place with a six-under 210. 

Dunlop also finished under par, tying for ninth place with a one-under 215. Davis ended in a tie for 17th carding a 219.

La Verne also went head to head with NCAA Division II Biola at Sierra La Verne. The Leopards dominated the Eagles winning 281-313. Jake Littlejohn led the Leopards in that win, shooting two-under. Hussein shot a one-under, and Davis, Dunlop, and Brown all finished even.

The Leopards will be back in action this spring.
