No. 11 Leopards take 2nd, Phanomchai ties for 1st at SCIAC No. 1

CHINO HILLS, CA — Pitiluk Phanomchai tied for first individually and the University of La Verne men's golf team took second overall at SCIAC No. 1 hosted at Los Serranos Country Club.

Phanomchai closed out the tournament in outstanding fashion. After ending day one tied for 18th with a score of 75, the sophomore shot a weekend best 67 to jump up the leaderboard and end tied for first with a score of two-under 142. Cameron Cooper and Jake Hollander both from Redlands also ended with a 142.

The Leopards finished the weekend with a score of four-over 580. La Verne finished strong, shooting a one-under 287 on day two. All four Leopards who scored in round two finished in the top-10. Redlands took first with a total score of 575.

Conner Davis and Connor Dunlop tied for sixth place overall with scores of 146. Davis had a consistent weekend, shooting 73 on each day. Dunlop improved by two strokes on day two, shooting an even 72.

One stroke behind the pair was Hisham Hussein who carded a three-over 147. Hussein shot a 72 in the opening round.

Jake Littlejohn scored on day one for La Verne, shooting a two-over 74. The sophomore finished the weekend tied for 23rd with a total score of 151. Nathan Stepanski had a solid showing, carding a 152.

Next Round

The Leopards will head to Las Vegas for their next round when they compete at the Warrior Invite. The tournament is held from March 12-13 at Stallion Mountain Golf Club.
