Leopard men's soccer squad upended in overtime

LA VERNE- The University of La Verne men's soccer squad lost a 2-1 overtime decision to Cal Lutheran University.

The Kingsmen struck first with an early second-half goal to take a 1-0 advantage. The Leos equalized in the 60th minute with a strike from freshman defender Martin Torres. Freshman forward Nathan Gonzalez provided the assist. The scored would remain tied at the end of regulation before a Cal Lutheran goal five minutes into overtime ended the match.

The Leopards outplayed the Kingsmen (11-6-2, 9-5-2 SCIAC) on the stat sheet with a 22-19 advantage in shots fired and a whooping 10-0 margin in corner kicks. 

Senior midfielder David Gonzalez took five shots for the Leopards, while Torres and senior midfielder Ryan Estrada had four apiece. Freshman goalie Dylan Roberts tallied eight saves.

La Verne concludes its season with a 10-8 overall record, including an even 8-8 mark in conference play.
