Men's Soccer falls to Cal Lutheran on the road

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — The University of La Verne men's soccer team fell behind early and couldn't recover, losing to the Cal Lutheran Kingsmen on the road Saturday night.

Cal Lutheran played aggressively on offense in the first half, doubling the Leopards on shot attempts 10-5.

They took the opening lead in the 19th minute on a goal by Diego Ortega. Ortega doubled the lead five minutes later to put his team up 2-0.

Tyler Avila rattled off four shots in the match. Andrew Maldonado and Ryan Adams each added two shots.

Tristan Polakowski finished with four saves.

Season Impact: The Leopards drop to 4-5-1 overall and 2-5-1 in SCIAC play. The Kingsmen improve to 7-3 overall and 5-2 in the SCIAC.

Next Game: The Leopards take a break from conference play and head north to face UC Santa Cruz on Wednesday, October 4 at 3 p.m.
