Men's Soccer battles at Chapman

ORANGE, Calif. — The University of La Verne men's soccer team battled with the Chapman University Panthers but was edged out 1-0 Saturday night.

After Auden Foxe was given a red card in the 23rd minute, the Panthers went on an offensive attack.

But despite playing down a man, the Leopards severely limited the quality of shots by the Panthers, fending off the most of the attack for the final 67 minutes of the game.

The Panthers fired off 11 shots during the stretch with only two shots on goal compared to La Verne's four.

Chapman's Kai Howe was able to sneak in a goal in the 56th minute that proved to be the difference maker.

Freshman Johnny DeRueda launched two shots for La Verne.

Luis Hernandez, Javier Jasso, Jack Kolodge, and Christopher Wong each added a shot.

Josh Ramirez finished with a save.

Season Impact: La Verne moves to 7-7-2 overall and 4-6-2 in SCIAC play. Chapman improves to 9-4 overall and 9-2-1 in the conference.

Next Game: The Leopards travel to Whittier next Wednesday to face the Poets at 7 p.m.
