KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Senior Anton Russell has been selected as United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-West as announced by the United Soccer Coaches Association.
Russell, who earned his degree in business administration and is currently pursuing his MBA, posted a 3.81 GPA and earned Second Team All-SCIAC honors in his final season with the Leopards.
Russell led La Verne's defense all season and contributed to seven Leopard shutouts. The senior was named to the first team last season and second team in 2015.
Student-athletes receiving Scholar All-West recognition at these levels meet the following criteria: 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) or better throughout career, started more than 50 percent of all games and significantly contribute to their team, nominated by head coach of current College Services member institutions, junior or above in academic standing.
