Men's Soccer falls to Bulldogs in OT

LA VERNE, CA — The University of La Verne men's soccer team went into Saturday's game against first place Redlands in a must-win situation.

Heading into sudden death overtime, the Leopards were in the best spot they could hope for, a shot away from winning the match. But it was the Bulldogs who were able to capitalize in extra time, beating La Verne 2-1.

Tyler Avila gave La Vene the opening 1-0 lead, scoring off a pass from Christopher Wong in the 47th minute.

Kayvon Para netted the equalizer for Redlands in the 60th minute and Peyton Menti scored the game winner for the Bulldogs in overtime.

Rene Gonzalez picked up five saves for La Verne.

Season Impact

The Leopards fall to 7-8 overall and 5-8 in SCIAC play. Redlands improves to 12-3 overall and 10-2 in SCIAC play.

Senior Day

The Leopards celebrated seniors Gerardo Vasquez and Christopher Cervantes in a brief pregame ceremony.

Next Game 

The Leopards close out SCIAC play on the road against the Chapman Panthers on Wednesday, October 24 at 4 p.m.
