LA VERNE, CA — Jovanni Garcia has been named Third Team All-West Region by the United Soccer Coaches the organization announced Monday.
Garcia had a dominant season in his first year with the Leopards. The junior finished the regular season as the top goal scorer (14) and pointers earner (33) on the La Verne squad and in the SCIAC. He also tied for first for the Leopards and ranked third in the conference with five assists.
The junior scored a hat-trick in a home win over St. Katherine and notched two goals wins over Whitworth and at St. Katherine. He dealt three assists and scored once in a win against Providence Christian. He picked up SCIAC Athlete of the Week honors after he led the Leopards to a conference-opening victory when he scored the game-winning goal against Pomona-Pitzer with just 68 seconds remaining in regulation. He scored a goal in all but one of the Leopards' wins this season.
The Gardena native also picked up First Team All-SCIAC honors for his incredible season.
