WHITTIER — The University of La Verne men's soccer team was defeated by the Whittier College Poets by the final score of 4-0 on the road Wednesday night.

Whittier had control of the ball for most of the night and they used that possession advantage to outshoot the Leos 35-8 in total shots, and 16-4 in shots on goal. That meant it was a busy day for the trio of Leo goalies in the net. Kevan Rehmani, Logan Reese, and Luis Delgado all had significant playing time. Rehmani and Reese both did their best in this game to prevent the Poets from scoring. The duo made sure Whittier did not score on their first 15 shots in the first half alone.

Rehmani saved all three shots on goal during his 22 minutes in action, and Reese was able to save five shots but was charged with three goals allowed on the day. The game would remain scoreless until Whittier's relentless attack was finally able to get one past Reese. Nainoa Loschky scored the first goal of the game for Whittier in the final seconds of the first half. The Poets would add two more goals early in the second half.

Delgado finished up the rest of the game at goalie for La Verne and was able to make three out of his four save opportunities.

The Leos were unable to respond by converting on their limited chances with the ball. Rodrigo Martinez led the team in total shots with three, with one on goal. Owen Osagiede, Joel Trejo, and Sanders Esplin all contributed with one shot on goal apiece.

La Verne's season finale will be a home game at Ortmayer Stadium on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. as they take on Pomona-Pitzer.
