The University of La Verne men's tennis team had a 7-game
homestand spanning 11 days from the period of April 17-27, but the
Leopards were unable to come out with a win.
The Leopards kicked off the action with a match against Amherst
College, where the #1 doubles team of Richie Delgado and Alex
Muresan started off strong with a 8-6 win over Wes Waterman and Jon
Thaler, however, it would be La Verne's only point of the day.
Muresan (#2) would continue his strong play, this time in singles,
as he took on Sewanee's Jay Hill, and came out with a 7-5, 6-2
victory. La Verne's #2 would strike again against Middleburg's Eric
Vehovec in an exciting 6-4, 4-6, (11-9) outcome.
Senior Adrian Laygo would also earn a few victories; first with
teammate Joe Matsuoka against Biola as #3 doubles (8-4), and alone
against Pugeot Sound's #1 Jamie Hosmer, in a gritty 7-5, 4-6,
(10-8) finish.
La Verne will take a few days off before they head out to
Claremont to take on conference rival Pomona-Pitzer. The match will
begin at 2:00pm.
