The University of La Verne men's tennis team defeated the
Caltech Beavers in a 5-4 final Saturday morning in Pasadena. It was
the Leopards first conference win of the season.
Adrian Laygo and Joe Matsuoka were able to win their doubles match
8-6 to give the Leopards its first point. Laygo continued his
strong play in singles, defeating his opponent 6-3, 6-3. Nick
Mitzenmacher would win his match up 6-4, 6-1, while Mark Rivas came
out on top 7-5, 6-3. Freshman Wesley Dean was able to win a lengthy
7-5, 2-6, 6-3 battle to seal the deal for La Verne.
This concludes the end of the regular season for the Leopards, and
La Verne now looks ahead to the conference tournament next weekend,
which they will host at the University of Redlands. Check back to
