Leopards have solid showing in Illinois and Claremont

ELSHA, Ill. — The La Verne track and field teams scored four wins at the Principia College Invitational.

Catalina Lee Kim led the Leopards with a pair of wins at the invite. The senior took got her first win in the 60 meter hurdles, crossing the line with a time of 9.08. Lee Kim currently ranks 12th nationally in the event after running an 8.94 at the Northern Arizona Invitational.

She scored her second win of the meet in the long jump where she posted a final distance of 5.43 meters.

On, the men's side, Joshua Francis scored a win in the 400 meter dash, finishing with a time of 50.50. The senior added a fourth place finish in the 60 meter dash, finishing with a time of 7.16.

In the field events, Andrew Carrasco took first in the weight throw with his best throw reaching 16.49 meters.

Rossi Relays — Results

The rest of the La Verne squad competed down the road at the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Rossi Relays.

Micaela Krumweide led the Leopards with a second place performance in the triple jump with a leap of 10.74 meters.

Anthony Hamilton tied for third in the high jump in his first meet with the Leopards. The freshman finished with a height of 1.83 meters.

Senior Cambria Serrano scored a fourth place finish in the women's javelin with a throw of 34.04 meters.

Melissa Cerrillos took eighth overall and was the top Division III finisher in the 3000 meter run finishing with a time of 10:27.14.

Kyle Ambat took fifth in the long jump with his best leap reaching 6.55 meters. Nicolas Freeman took seventh in the event at 6.47 meters.

Matthew Pedroza took sixth in the shot put with his best throw coming at 12.53 meters. He also took eighth in the hammer throw with a distance of 36.95 meters.

In the men's javelin, Oscar Leon came in sixth with a throw of 41.23 meters. Right behind him was teammate Andres Lemus at 40.34 meters. Michael Brown took eight in the discus at 38.44 meters.

Next Meet: The Leopards open conference competition next week at their first SCIAC Multi-Dual on Saturday, March 3 at Occidental College.
