LA VERNE, Calif. — Jakob Thomas, Catalina Lee Kim, and Joshua Francis have been named Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week the SCIAC office announced Monday morning.
On the diamond, Thomas led La Verne to two wins over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. The designated hitter finished the series with six hits and five RBI. He hit a triple in a 12-1 rout of the Stags in the series opener an added a double in the second game of the series.
In Eagle Rock, Lee Kim and Francis both had standout performances at the first SCIAC multi-dual of the season. Lee Kim led the Leopards to a team win over Pomona-Pitzer with three individual wins. The junior won the 100m hurdles (14.74), the long jump (18-05.00), and the triple jump (37-07.25). She also anchored the women's 4x100 meter relay team (49.49) that took second and ran the first leg of the 4x400m relay (4:11.64) that finished third.
Francis scored a pair of individual wins for the men's squad, crossing first in the 200m (21.61) and 400m (49.12). He also anchored the 4x400m relay team that won the event with a time of 3:20.61.
