Men's Track and Field Impress at Mountain T's Invite

FLAGSTAFF, CA — The University of La Verne men's track and field team had an impressive showing at the Mountain T's Invitational hosted at Northern Arizona University.

Nathan Bradley led the way for the Leopards with a personal best performance in the 60m hurdles. The senior posted a time of 8.88 in the preliminaries before taking fifth in the finals with a time of 8.94. Freshman Jonathan Lewis followed in seventh placing crossing the finish line with a time of 9.37.

Returning NCAA Qualifier Kyle Ambat was the top NCAA Division III finisher in the long jump. The senior took fourth overall with a leap of 6.75m. He also posted the best DIII performance and second overall in the triple jump with a distance of 13.75m.

Matthew Pedroza was the best DIII finisher in the shot put with the junior finishing with a throw of 13.43m. Pedroza also took fourth in the weight throw with a distance of. 10.61m. Subdue Ezinwa took fifth in the event at 9.14m.

Senior Jeffrey Ouk took ninth in the 400m dash clocking in at 54.07. Quintus Alton took ninth in the pole vault with a height of 3.40m.

The Leopards 4x400m relay team took second with the squad of Patrick Cornwell, Austin Haines, Ouk, and Terrence Robinson posting a time of 3:30.64.

"It was a solid weekend of competition for the group," said head coach Kevin Reid. "We have several athletes that have some experience indoors and several who had never been inside for track. That combination provided a great weekend of success and experience as we move forward." 

Next Meet

The Leopards will take a trip across the country next weekend when they travel to Massachusettes to participate in the Boston U Valentine Invitational. Competition begins on Friday, February 8 and extends to Saturday.
