Kevin Reid, who has 30 years of coaching experience at the collegiate level and with USA Track & Field, enters his third season in charge of the La Verne track and field program in 2019-20.

In his first season at La Verne, Reid guided Catalina Lee Kim to her second straight appearance at the NCAA Championships and saw Kyle Ambat qualify for the national meet for the first time. He also mentored T.J. Randall to SCIAC Field Athlete of the Year honors after the senior won conference titles in the shot put and the hammer throw and took second in the discus. 

Reid also saw two program records matched or broken during his first season with freshman high jumper Anthony Hamilton tying the school record of 6-08.75 and Lee Kim setting the record in the 100m hurdles at 14.34. Lee Kim was also was named the Jesse Iles Scafani winner at the Leopards' top female athlete.

In his second season at the helm, he guided Elizabeth Prevedello to an All-American finish in the heptathlon with the junior taking sixth in the event and setting a new La Verne record at 4664 points. In addition to Prevedello, Melissa Cerrillos earned a bid to NCAA Championships for the second time in her career to compete in the 3000m steeplechase, and Jade Griffin qualified for the 200m dash for her first sport at nationals.

One of the most respected multi-events coaches in the nation, Reid has spent the past 22 seasons as head men's track and field coach at Azusa Pacific, one of the nation's elite programs. He led the Cougars to an incredible 14 national championships during his tenure and earned 13 NAIA Coach of the Year awards. Reid was inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame in 2014.

In addition, Reid has been involved with USA Track & Field since 1990 and has coached in three Olympic Games. Most notably, he coached Bryan Clay to a gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing and a silver medal at Athens 2004. He has coached in every U.S. Olympic Team Trials since 1992 and every USA Track & Field Championships since 1990. He has received two USA Track & Field head coaching assignments, leading Team USA's Thorpe Cup combined events team in 2005 and 2015, and coached jumps and multis at the 2018 International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World U20 Championships in Tampere, Finland.

Under Reid, Azusa Pacific posted top-10 finishes in all 17 NAIA Indoor Championship meets that he coached, including a run of seven indoor national championships in nine years between 2002 and 2010. While winning four consecutive indoor titles (2007-10), Azusa Pacific also claimed outdoor national championships in 2008 and 2009 for a run of five national championships in a row during a three-year stretch.

An average of 11 Azusa Pacific athletes per year garnered All-American status and the program produced an individual national champion in 16 of Reid's 17 NAIA seasons at the helm.

Reid has also served or is serving on various national committees. He served on the games committee of the NAIA indoor and outdoor championship meets, of which he co-chaired the games committee for the 2004 NAIA Outdoor Championships Meet. He has served as outdoor championship meet referee for 4 years, and he served as the NAIA Track & Field Coaches Association president from 2006 to 2008. He has also served as a lead mentor in the USA Track & Field Coaches Education Mentorship Program and has sat on USA Track & Field Coaches Advisory Committee from 2011-16. He is currently a member of the USA Track & Field Combined Events Development Executive Committee. 

Reid was a member of two Azusa Pacific NAIA championship squads, competing in both the intermediate and high hurdles on the 1986 and 1988 teams. Reid posted career-bests of 53.81 in the intermediates and 14.79 in the highs. Reid also was a two-year letterman on the Cougar football team, starting as a defensive back for the nationally-ranked 1985 and 1986 teams that went a combined 12-3-3.

Reid graduated from Azusa Pacific in 1988 with a bachelor's degree in marketing. In 2001 he earned his master's degree in education from Azusa Pacific.

Prior to Azusa Pacific, Reid competed at Yuba College in Marysville, California, and prepped at Carson City (Nevada) High School, from which he graduated in 1983.

Kevin and his wife Stacey reside in Pomona. They have two sons, Jonathan, who played baseball at Azusa Pacific and now plays professionally in the Washington Nationals organization, and Zachary.
