Men’s Water Polo falls at Loyola Marymount

LOS ANGELES — The University of La Verne men's water polo fell, 14-3, at NCAA Division I Loyola Marymount on Saturday afternoon at Burns Aquatics Center.

La Verne falls to 1-7 overall while LMU improves to 4-7.

The Leopards stayed aggressive on offense, getting off 29 shots to LMU's 39, but weren't efficient with their efforts.

Jared Hopley, Tyler Bennett and Josh Vega each notched one goal.

The Lions started the game on a 6-0 run until Bennett stopped the bleeding with three minutes left in the first half. But LMU ripped off six unanswered goals to run away with a 2-1 lead.

La Verne goalie Ian Hernandez turned in a workman's effort in goal, turning away 14 shots.

Rey Julian Castillo fired off a game-high 10 shots, but could not find the back of the net.

The Leopards are back in action on Thursday at home against Fordham.
