Men's Water Polo tops Caltech, 18-11

PASADENA — Ten different players got on the scoresheet for the University of La Verne men's water polo team and the Leopards beat Caltech, 18-11, on Wednesday at Braun Pool.

La Verne improves to 5-16 overall and 3-3 in the SCIAC. Caltech falls to 5-17 and 0-5.

Tyler Bennett led the Leopards with five goals. Rey Julian Castillo, Jared Hopley and Jessie Iniquez scored four goals apiece.

La Verne scored the first four goals of the game and led wire-to-wire.

Caltech's Chris Bradley scored the last two goals of the first half and Charles Ross opened the second half scoring to get the Beavers within 9-7 but that was as close as it would get. The Leopards, led by three goals from Bennett, responded with a 7-1 run spilling into the fourth quarter to run away.

Domenic D'Andrea finished with three goals and Evan Monterroso, Guillermo Ocasio, Joshua Vega and Jeremy Rocha pitched in two each.

Bradley and Ross combined to score 10 of Caltech's 11 goals. They finished with five goals each.

The Leopards return to Las Flores Park for the last home game on Saturday at 11 a.m. against Occidental.
