Men's Water Polo falls in SCIAC opener to Chapman

ORANGE, Calif. — Rey Julian Castillo gave the University of La Verne men's water polo team the opening lead, but the Chapman Panthers went on a 5-0 run to take the lead for good, beating the Leopards 15-9 Wednesday night. 

Castillo led the Leopards with 5 goals in the game. The senior currently leads the Leopards with 22 goals this season. 

Josh Vega, Mike Meza, Joey Sabers, and Rex Sample each added a goal. 

La Verne outscored Chapman in the third quarter to cut the deficit to three goals. But five goals by the Panthers put the game away in the final quarter. 

Chapman was led by Jeff O'Brien's five goals.

Season Impact: The Leopards fall to 2-3 overall and 0-1 in the SCIAC. Chapman improves to 3-8 overall and 1-1 in conference play. 

Next Game: The Leopards return to action this Saturday when they travel to Cal Lutheran to take on the Kingsmen at 11 a.m.
