Men's Water Polo falls to CMS on the road

CLAREMONT, Calif. — Jason Russum, Joshua Vega, and Rex Sample each scored two goals but the University of La Verne men's water polo team fell on the road to the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags 18-8 Wednesday night.

Season Impact: The Leopards drop to 3-6 overall and 1-4 in conference play. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps improves to 6-7 overall and 3-1 in conference play.

The Leopards took an early 2-0 leads off back-to-back goals by Vega and Mike Meza. The Stags came back to tie the game 2-2, but Tyler Bennett regained the lead for La Verne when he grabbed a pass from Russum to put the Leopards up 3-2.

But that would be the last time the Leopards would be on top as Claremont-Mudd-Scripps closed out the first quarter on a 2-0 run.

Vega found the back of the goal in the second quarter, but the Leopards were outscored 4-1 in the period to go into the half down 8-4.
